Mr. Sonny Iqbal helped establish Egon Zehnder’s offices in New Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai, and has been a Partner with the Firm for over 27 years.
He co-founded Egon Zehnder’s global Family Business Advisory Practice and advises family businesses on navigating the challenges of succession, founder transition, governance, and professionalization across geographies.
Before joining Egon Zehnder, Mr. Iqbal gained experience in operations and marketing with the Oberoi Group in the U.K., India, and the Middle East. He also managed the financial and travel services business of American Express in India.
Mr. Iqbal holds a B.A. with honours from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University; an MBA from the University of Surrey, U.K.; and a Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality from the Oberoi Centre for Learning and Development, Delhi.
He frequently speaks and writes on leadership, CEO succession, and family business, with his work published internationally, including in the Harvard Business Review.
Mr. Iqbal also serves on the Advisory Board of India Leaders for Social Sector.
